The legendary conquerors of four weight divisions Japanese Kazuto Yoka (28-2, 15 KOs) and Filipino Donny Nietes (43-1-6, 23 KOs) are preparing for a rematch, which will take place this Wednesday at arena Ota City Gymnasium in Tokyo (Japan).
Yoki’s WBO super flyweight title is on the line. The legends fought for the same belt in December 2018 in Macau – then Nietes snatched the victory for the thin one. After that fight, the Filipino disappeared from boxing for 2.5 years, returning to the ring only in 2021. The fighter has already exchanged the fifth ten.
Interestingly, the last time on the eve of the battle, Ioka had a long downtime – he married a cute local
pop starquarreled with his father / coach and even ended his career for a while.
“People say that Nietes is already an old man, but I don’t think so,”
Yoka says. “I expect it to be exactly the same as that time. It’s funny that now I have an advantage in activity. But I believe that he will have time to put himself in order. He fought well that time, very smart. He moved well, countered, intercepted. But I remember that his punching power did not impress me at all, so this time I will go harder and more aggressively on him.
Ioka dreams of fights against star Juan Francisco Estrada and Romanga Gonzalez, or at least unifications, so he is not very happy with his opponent, but there is nothing to be done – this is a mandatory defense: “For now, I am focused on this fight. Let’s see what happens in the meantime for the rest of the champions. After all, I previously agreed with Jervin Ancajas, but he lost his title (IBF) to young Fernando Martinez. Therefore, the upcoming fight, although it is formally a chance to close that defeat in the fight with the legend, it still cannot be compared with the fight against Estrada and Gonzalez or with unification.
