Askar Mozharov, who was released from the UFC following his first and only fight with the promotion, has been temporarily suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission after a drug test was flagged for a banned substance.
The commission met on Tuesday to approve the suspension in lieu of a hearing that is tentatively scheduled for September.
According to the report from the commission, Mozharov tested positive for a metabolic modulator surrounding his fight with Alonzo Menifield at the UFC Fight Night event held on June 4 in Las Vegas.
Mozharov reportedly lives in Dubai at the moment and has been communicating with the commission about the drug test. A resolution is expected to be reached at a subsequent meeting.
The news of Mozharov being suspended comes just a few months after his debut in the UFC was marred by allegations that he falsified his records with an overly large number of fights, after signing a deal with the promotion.
After he lost to Menifield in a TKO, several corrections were made to Mozharov’s resume.
Just days after the fight, Mozharov was released from his contract with the UFC.
