Artem Reznikov made a statement after the defeat

After suffering a crushing defeat in the quarterfinal match of the ACA lightweight grand prix against Ali Bagov, Kazakhstani fighter Artem Reznikov does not rule out the possibility that he may end his professional career.

“Maybe I’ll reboot my career, I’ll move to 77 kg, but now something at all there is no desire to fight further,” Reznikov said in an interview after the ACA 168 tournament. “Two defeats like this. I came here to compete, not to lose. What’s the point of me fighting if I’m losing?”

After beating the Russian in the opening stanza, Reznikov was unable to counter Bagov for the next three five-minute rounds, eventually losing the fight by technical knockout at the 4:13 mark of the fourth round.

“The first round was OK, then I got hammered. Maybe 70 kilograms is not my weight class. Maybe it’s a heavy weight race, although Ali is racing the same way, even more, but I got hammered. I should try 77 kilos. The race was very hard – I was in pain for a long time, I didn’t sleep all night. I got up in the morning, seemed to have recovered, had a good fight for the first round, and then I got stiff. My neck was swollen and that was it. I had strength, but my neck was swollen, my muscles were clogged”

It should be reminded that Artem Reznikov came out to fight Ali Bagov six months after he lost by technical knockout in the third round to Eduard Vartanyan in the final of the ACA lightweight grand prix.
