Artem Lobov may fight Eduard Vartanyan

The opponent of Artem Lobov, who plans to resume his career within the framework of “REN TV Fight Club”, may be the winner of the ACA lightweight grand prix Eduard Vartanyan.

About it in an interview with the channel Meta MMA Russian promoter Vladimir Khryunov reported.

“We do have a fight in the plans for Artem Lobov, and Eduard could be one of the candidates for this confrontation,” Khryunov said.

Last June, 32-year-old Eduard Vartanyan extended his winning streak to eight fights, finishing Kazakhstan’s Artem Reznikov by technical knockout in the third round in the final grand prix match. The Russian will fight next on March 2 at the “Our Cause” tournament in Moscow against former UFC lightweight Damir Ismagulov. The bout is scheduled for three rounds of three minutes each and will be held under kickboxing rules.

A finalist on the twenty-second season of TUF, Artem Lobov has fought seven fights in the UFC, earning two wins and suffering five losses. After being dismissed from the world’s strongest league, “The Russian Hammer” found himself in fist fights under the Bare Knuckle FC banner, defeating Jason Knight and Paul Malignaggi by decisions before losing early to Knight in a rematch.

In July 2021, the 37-year-old Lobov suffered an early defeat in a bare-knuckle fight under the Mahatch FC banner in Kiev, refusing to go to the fifth round against renowned Ukrainian boxer Denis Berinchik, and a week later announced the end of his professional career.
