This was announced by the Briton’s manager, Eddie Hearn, who this weekend held talks with representatives of Saudi Arabia, who want to host the fight in January.
“This is the fight we want,” Hearn stated. “Our plan is for three fights, Robert Helenius, Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury. That’s the ambition of our team.”
“Anthony is now a mature heavyweight, and with Helenius he took his time to author one of the knockouts of the year. Now he’s ready for the big fights. He’s gotten smarter and will take fewer risks.”
Joshua, who knocked out Helenius with a right jab in the seventh round, reiterated his willingness to fight the American.
“I’m happy we can make this fight at the end of the day and I think the fans will appreciate it too,” the British heavyweight said. “I do my best to keep heavyweight fights on the card and generate interest.”
Deontay Wilder last stepped into the ring last October, knocking out Robert Helenius in the first round and closing out two early losses to Tyson Fury.
