With a high degree of probability, the 11th absolute world boxing champion in the era of four belts will be determined on December 13 in Japan – the local favorite king of the bantamweight Naoya Inoue (23-0, 20 KOs) will fight with the WBO belt holder Briton Paul Butler (34-2, 15 KOs).
The event will be held as part of a joint show from Teiken Promotions and Phoenix Promotions.
Japanese co-promoter Top Rank does not officially participate in the event, since Inoue leads his career exclusively in the USA (and also for the reason that Butler is a fighter Probellumwith whom Bob Arum fundamentally does not cooperate).
One of the belts of the ex-absolute world champion in super lightweight (up to 63.5 kg) British Josh Taylor (19-0, 13 KOs) will soon receive a new owner. The IBF confirmed that the champion had vacated the belt, after which they again sanctioned the fight between the 1st and 2nd numbers of the rating – Argentine Jeremias Ponce (30-0, 20 KOs) and Puerto Rican Subriel Matias (18-1, 18 KOs).
Previously, they had to determine the owner of the vacant interim title, and now they will fight for a full belt.
There is no date and place for the fight yet – first, the parties will try to agree amicably, in case of failure, promotional bidding will take place.
While the entire boxing world froze in anticipation of the news that in December the title of the first absolute world champion in the era of four belts will be played in heavyweight, the former holder of the IBF belt in this weight, American Charles Martin (28-3-1, 25 KOs) will hold moderately intermediate duel.
On September 4 in Los Angeles (USA) as part of the PPV show Andy Ruiz vs Luis Ortiz, he will fight with compatriot Olympian Devin Vargas (22-7, 9 KOs).
The fight will not be included in the PPV broadcast.
Earlier, Ruiz offered a cool option on how to beat unified heavyweight champion Usyk. Meanwhile, WBC champion Fury remembered the “sucker” from Ukraine and smirked Joshua.
