Mexican ex-world heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz (34-2, 22 KOs) is hoping that another ex-champion representing the United States, Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs), will continue his career, and they will be able to fight.
True, first Andy will meet in the ring with Cuban Luis Ortiz (33-2, 28 KOs) – the fight is scheduled for September 4th.
“The heavyweight division is full of opportunities right now,” Ruiz said. “First I need to get a win over Luis Ortiz. As I said, this is a tough opponent, but, of course, I would love to fight Deontay Wilder if he does decide to come back from retirement.
“I don’t know if he talked about the fact that he was going to return, but I would be happy to go into the ring with him. We are both on PBC with Al Haymon, so this fight would be easy to arrange,” Andy said.
Recall that Ortiz twice claimed the world title owned by Wilder, and both times was knocked out by Deontay.
Recently, the Cuban predicted that his fight with Ruiz would end in a knockout.
