UFC 271 tournament bout
The fight will take place on February 13 in Houston (Texas, USA) at the Toyota Center and will be part of the preliminary card of the UFC 271 PPV tournament. The estimated start of the fight is 04:30 Kyiv time. The fight will be broadcast live on Setanta Sports.
Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Orlovsky (32-20, 2 NC) will fight his 37th UFC fight against Jared Vanderaa (12-6).
Orlovsky, 43, who holds the UFC record for the number of fights fought, after losing by submission to Tom Aspinall a year ago, has won two subsequent bouts. In April and October, he was defeated by unanimous decision by Chase Sherman and Carlos Felipe, respectively.
Vanderaa, 29, made his UFC debut a year ago with a loss to Sergei Spivak, who stopped him with a ground and pound in the second round. In May, Jared won on points against Justin Tafa, but in October, Alexander Romanov again finished his ground and pound in the second round.
Prediction for the fight
Orlovsky and Vanderaa prefer to rely on standing fighting. Orlovsky is a very good sambo wrestler in the past, but in recent years he has been trying to avoid the ground. And Vanderaa has a lot of trouble on the ground with good wrestlers, as shown by his fight against Romanov.
From a stylistic point of view, Vanderaa is very convenient for Orlovsky. The American is quite primitive, but Orlovsky is a versatile and technical drummer. The Belarusian “Pitbull” can easily outbox the opponent in his cautious manner and win according to the referee’s notes.
