Andre Ward breaks down superfight Spence-Crawford

The legendary Andre Ward shared his opinion about perhaps the most intriguing fight in boxing – the fight between compatriot champions Errol Spence (28-0, 22 KOs) and Terence Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs) for the title of absolute welterweight champion and leader P4P rating.

Rumor has it that the fight will take place on November 19 in Las Vegas (USA).

“I will voice this thought, but I suppose they both already know it,” the
intrigue Ward. Both of them had never faced such an opponent before. Terence has never had an opponent of Spence’s level, and Errol has never had an opponent of Crawford’s level. And this is despite the fact that both have tremendous experience. I think it’s time for this fight to finally take place. 3 year promotion behind. Everything that needed to be said has already been said. It’s time for a fight.”

On the stylistic confrontation: “I want to see how Crawford is going to deal with Spence’s pressure. Many believe that Errol is inferior to Terence, as he always boxed in the same style. So what? If it works, then why not? Take a look at his resume – it has all the answers. So this, believe me, is a very important question – how is Terence going to level the opponent’s advantage in physical strength. One more follow-up question: how will Crawford handle Spence’s style. Remember that Errol is left-handed. And one more question: will Spence’s work on the body affect? And he will certainly beat the bodypunch.”

“The body punch is hard to knock out, but believe me, these are very effective punches and very necessary. They slow down the opponent. And in a competitive confrontation, they can become a key factor. Yes, I don’t hide the fact that I’m wondering how Terence will deal with Spence’s firepower. But, on the other hand, the question is also how Errol will cope with Crawford’s long arms. He has incredibly long limbs. I remember we once played with him, imitated shadow boxing. And it was only then that I realized that he had abnormally long arms for a welterweight,” recalls Ward.

The expert recalled other trump cards of the favorite: “The question is also how Spence will cope with the fact that Terence is constantly changing stances. What will he offer in return? I agree, Crawford has a punch too. He can fight and box. He can shuttle, circle, box because of the jab. No, don’t think. Errol knows how to do it too. I’m just talking directly about Crawford right now. Here, after all, is the mirror question: how will Spence cope with the power of Terence? How would his jaw react to a direct hit? You know, you can ask dozens of such questions. I can continue until the evening (smiles). But where am I leading? To the fact that in fact we can only guess and speculate. But we don’t know for sure. We won’t know until the fight.”

“We have the biggest fight in welterweight history ahead of us,” Ward said. – And it is for this reason that I believe that there will be more than one fight. I do not know for sure, but I assume that the contract will include a clause on revenge. And for both fighters, and not for any one. I guess they will have a deal for two fights. Well, at least two…”

Previously, Roy Jones shared his opinion about this fight: “Damn good fight!” And Mikey Garcia forcedly named the favorite. Eddie Hearn did it a little easier – he had already decided. And the absolute champion Haney got tired with the forecast.
