Anderson Silva, a Brazilian MMA veteran will return to the squared circle in May 14 and take on fellow Brazilian MMA veteran Bruno Machado. Multiple sources confirmed that the information was relayed by TMZ to MMA Fighting.
The show will be held on a helicopter landing platform and Floyd Mayweather Jr. will fight Dan Moore in the main bout.
MMA Fighting has learned that Silva vs. Machado will be an eight-round exhibition match contested at 194 pounds.
Silva, 46, defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Tito Ortiz in the boxing ring in 2021. The UFC’s former champion in middleweight and MMA knocked “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” to the ground in 81 secs in his latest appearance in September.
Machado (15-9 in MMA) is on a six-fight winning streak in the sport with three of those victories coming by way of knockout. The 35-year-old captured the UAE Warriors lightweight belt in July 2020 and then defeated UFC veteran Mickael Lebout via decision.
“Caveira” was hoping to sign with the UFC after the decision victory over Lebout with UFC President Dana White in attendance for his show “Lookin’ For a Fight” in Dubai, but left home with no deal. Machado spoke with MMA Fighting after the decision win over Lebout and stated that he would “continue scoring wins against former UFC fighters” until he gets that opportunity .”
