Aljamain Sterling vows to finish Alex Volkanovski

Alexander Volkanovski’s impressive performance against Islam Makhachev did not change Aljamain Sterling’s mind that he could move up to featherweight and take the UFC championship belt from the Australian.

“I would submit Wolf, 100%,” the reigning UFC bantamweight champion wrote on social media when asked by a fan about a potential fight. “I will not say that it will be easy. Alex is doing his homework, but I believe I would have caught him.”

Earlier, Aljamain Sterling said that he could change the weight category after he defends the championship belt against Henry Cejudo, a fight with whom, according to rumors, is scheduled for May this year. Probably, the transition of the American to featherweight will also depend on whether his friend and teammate Merab Dvalishvili can defeat Petr Yan in a potential challenger fight.

Recall that last weekend, Alex Volkanovski made an unsuccessful attempt to take away the UFC lightweight championship belt from Islam Makhachev, losing to the Russian by unanimous decision at UFC 284 in Perth.
