“The latest news is that I’ve been offered Kelvin Kattar and two others as opponents,” MMAnews quoted the American as saying. “The other two were friends of mine, so I immediately rejected their nominations. Besides, one of them was coming off a loss and Kattar is ranked higher than everyone else.”
However, Sterling has yet to decide on his future and will make a decision after he undergoes testing at the UFC PI gym.
“Kattar is a big guy. He beat Gigu Chikaze. I feel good about the welterweight division, but when I stand next to welterweights, I don’t feel like we have similar dimensions. I like Kattar, but I’m not going to move up just to be number two. I’ll only take a risk if I know I can be number one, and I’m going to find out.”
Aljamain Sterling lost his championship belt this August, losing by second round technical knockout to fellow countryman Sean O’Malley, while Kelvin Kattar is on a two-fight losing streak, having lost by split decision to Josh Emmett and suffering a knee injury in his fight against Arnold Allen.
