Alistair Overeem turned to Alexander Usik

Former DREAM, Strikeforce and K-1 champion, Alistar Overeem, has reached out to absolute world heavyweight boxing champion Alexander Usik, who defeated Britain’s Tyson Fury last weekend to unify the WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF and The Ring titles.

“Congratulations on your victory, Oleksandr Usik!” the Dutchman wrote on social media, posting a joint photo with the Ukrainian. “Big respect to Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usik for an epic fight! Who is already looking forward to the rematch?”

The heavyweight unification fight between Tyson Fury and Alexander Usik, which took place in the Saudi capital Riyadh, went the full distance and ended in a split decision defeat for “The Gypsy King” with scores of 114-113, 113-114 and 112-115.

The British boxer, who disagreed with the judges’ verdict, said he would exercise his right to an immediate rematch, which is tentatively scheduled for October this year.
