Palms Casino Report, Las Vegas, USA. In the main event of the evening, the WBO middleweight champion (up to 72.6 kg) Zhanibek Alimkhanuly (13-0, 8 KOs) from Kazakhstan made his first title defense – he got tired, with difficulty he passed Briton Denzel Bentley (17-2-1, 14 KOs ).
The left-handed champion traditionally occupied the center of the ring, aggressively pressing and pulling his opponent on himself, probing with a lazy jab. Bentley tried to counter the counterpuncher, but he constantly could not stand it and rushed with sweeping punches – he fell through and got it.
Alimkhanuly was not very comfortable because of the clumsy style of the opponent, but at the start of the fight he looked good. The challenger woke up and gave a good 5th three-minute period: he aggressively pressed, was not afraid to throw punches, worked on the body. Bentley at least leveled the course of the battle. Alimkhanuly was disappointing – his attempts to counter with a left hook are too obvious. It lacks a solid jab and combinational work.
The champion spent the 9th three-minute period much better. Again hung over the applicant, forced him to work, miss – punished for mistakes. But all this immediately disappeared in the 10th round – the fighters started a tough fight. They demanded from the champion not to give up the initiative, but he, apparently, was too tired. In the corner, the Kazakhs were visibly nervous.
In the championship rounds, Bentley missed left hooks, was on the verge of an early defeat several times. The last seconds passed in a slugfest mahacha – both were tired, barely able to stand on their feet.
Judges score: 116-112, 116-112 and 118-110 (this one overdid it).
