UFC 277 tournament bout
The fight will take place on July 31 in Dallas (Texas, USA) at the American Airlines Center arena and will become the co-main event of the UFC 277 PPV tournament. The estimated start of the fight is 05:30 Kyiv time. The fight will be broadcast live on Setanta Sports.
#4 UFC flyweight champion Alexandre Pantozha (24-5) will take on two-place lower Alex Perez (24-6).
Pantoja will fight for the first time this year, in 2021 he won both of his fights. In February, he closed the defeat to Askar Askarov with a victory on points over Manel Cape, in August, Cannibal strangled Brandon Royval in the 2nd round.
Perez has been out of action since November 2020, when he was choked out in two minutes by Deiveson Figueiredo in a title fight. Since then, for various reasons, Perez had six fights canceled or postponed: 4 times against Matt Schnell and 2 times against Askar Askarov.
Pantozha is known for his grappling skills, while Perez has lost by submission numerous times. Perez, although he knows how to fight, he is unlikely to be able to compete with the Brazilian on the ground.
Perez is better at punching, but Pantozha shows good boxing skills, so he won’t be a standup whipping boy. Still, a long pause in Perez’s performances can play a key role in the fight, so we believe that Pantozha will use his strengths and finish the opponent.
Pantozha victory by submission in the 1st round
