Alexander Shlemenko turned to Sean Strickland

Former Bellator middleweight titleholder Alexander Shlemenko congratulated American middleweight Sean Strickland, with whom he once trained together at the RVCA gym, on winning the UFC championship belt.

“So many years have passed – we remember Sean Strickland as a very young fighter,” Storm wrote, posting a joint training photo.

“What set him apart even back then – he really loved sparring. When we lacked sparring partners, we called Sean, and he helped us out more than once, helping us in training”

“Congratulations to the new UFC champion! He deserved this win, first of all because of his fighter character!”

In addition to Shlemenko and Strickland, Andrei Koreshkov, Chris Curtis, Sam Alvey and T.J. Dillashaw are pictured.

Recall that last weekend at UFC 293 in Sydney, Sean Strickland defeated Israel Adesanya by unanimous decision to become the new UFC middleweight champion.
