Alexander Shlemenko challenged the fired from Bellator Gegard Mousasi

Former Bellator middleweight champion, Alexander Shlemenko, has reacted to the news that his former opponent, Gegard Mousasi, has been released from his current contract with Bellator.

Earlier, the Dutchman’s dismissal was announced by Bellator Vice President Mike Cogan.

“Bellator is releasing Gegard Mousasi from his existing agreement,” reads the official PFL and Bellator press release. “We wish him all the best in his next fighting chapter.”

“Woke up today and saw the news that Gegard Mousasi has some contract issues – it’s expired, or they didn’t renew it, or some other issues that I have little interest in,” “Storm” said in a video posted on social media. “I’m more interested in the fact that now the possibility of our rematch appears.”

“The first thing I wrote to Nikolai Klimenko, because I know that the RCC wanted to organize a Bellator tournament in Russia for a long time, wanted to co-host it and make my rematch with Gegard Mousasi. So now the RCC has a unique opportunity. Nikolay Klimenko said that he will try”

“I believe that it would be just a bomb! A bomb that would tear apart not only the Russian mma community, but the entire world mma community. This rematch would be perfect to end the year. Let’s hope that the RCC can make it work. They have every opportunity to do so”

It should be noted that the dismissal of Gegard Mousasi was preceded by an interview with the Dutchman, in which he complained that the PFL and Bellator do not give him fights, and threatened to sue the united organizations.

In October 2017, Gegard Mousasi made a successful debut under the Bellator banner, defeating Alexander Shlemenko by unanimous decision, after a hard fought fight he stated that he would never give the Russian a rematch, and would take this victory with him to his grave.
