Alexander Shabliy has received an offer from the UFC

Bellator lightweight grand prix finalist Alexander Shabliy, who has been in limbo over contract disputes for a title fight against Usman Nurmagomedov, has received an offer from the world’s strongest league.

“They came out to us after the semifinal fight with Pitbull,” the Russian fighter said in an interview with the channel USACHEV TV. “In general, for me, the UFC is a passed stage. I knocked on those doors, they said, ‘yes, we’ll sign,’ but it all dragged on – I was in America for six months, they promised me a fight, but in the end I accepted Bellator’s offer. And now they’ve already come out to us after this fight, but I’m not interested in it yet”

“Generally, the UFC rarely come out to someone themselves, but in our case they expressed interest. We said that we have plans to finish the grand prix final, we have one more defense under contract, and after that we are ready to talk.”

As for the title clash with Nurmagomedov, which is rumored to take place on May 17 in Paris, Shablii is still waiting for a contract from new owners Bellator with terms agreed upon before the grand prix kicks off.

“We are waiting for a contract with our terms that were agreed upon originally, that we counted on, and that the whole world knows about. My managers promise that they will follow through.”
