Alex Volkanovski sees the only way to beat Islam Makhachev

Reigning UFC featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski, expects to win only by knockout in his fight against Islam Makhachev, as he doesn’t believe the judges will allow him to win the fight by decision.

“I believe I will finish him,” MMA Fighting quoted the Australian as saying. “You’re going to see the most dangerous Volkanovski you’ve ever seen. I only look at it that way because I have no right to treat it any other way – I’m out to kill.”

“Enough with the judges’ decisions – you just have to go out there and make a statement. I have a fight on 11 days notice in his hometown, so I need to go out there and just put it out there. It’s about legacy. This fight is a legacy in itself, but if I go out there and knock him out, it’s going to be a stunner for the world. I’m looking forward to it.”

Last week, Islam Makhachev’s opponent, Charles Oliveira, suffered a serious dissection and dropped out of the UFC 294 event, and his spot on the card was taken by Aleksander Volkanovski, who accepted the lightweight title fight on short notice.

Recall that the next numbered event of the world’s strongest league will be held on October 21 in Abu Dhabi.
