Alex Volkanovski reacts to his rematch with Islam Makhachev

Reigning UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, who agreed on short notice to replace the injured Charles Oliveira in a title fight against Islam Makhachev, commented on the organization of a rematch with the Russian fighter.

“On the eleven-day notice. It’s not enough to just talk, you have to do it. I love this de***o. UFC 294,” the Australian wrote on social media.

Earlier, UFC CEO, Dana White, officially confirmed the information that Oliveira suffered a dissection and dropped out of the UFC 294 event, with the Makhachev vs. Volkanovski fight set to be the new main event of the numbered event.

In February of this year, Alex Volkanovski made a failed attempt to take the UFC lightweight championship belt from Islam Makhachev, losing to the Russian by unanimous decision over five rounds at UFC 284 in Perth.

The Australian then successfully unified the interim and current UFC featherweight titles with an early victory over Mexico’s Yair Rodriguez, while Makhachev has not returned to the octagon since February.

Recall that the UFC 294 tournament, the main event of which will be the announced superfight of champions, will be held on October 21 in Abu Dhabi.
