Adesanya reacts to Whittaker vs. Du Plessis challenger fight

Reigning UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya is looking to Dricus Du Plessis to defeat Robert Whittaker in a challenge bout to become his next opponent.

“So you’re saying I haven’t earned a title shot yet? Hold my beer and look at this. UFC 290,” wrote the South African fighter, addressing the UFC champion.

“I beg you, win!” Adesanya replied to a potential opponent.

As you know, the cause of the conflict between the fighters was the promise of Du Plessis to become “the first real African UFC champion”, which outraged Adesanya, who represents Nigeria in the UFC, but has been living in New Zealand since childhood.

The duel between Robert Whittaker and Drykus Du Plessis will take place on July 8 at UFC 290 in Las Vegas, and UFC president Dana White has officially confirmed the candidate status of the match.

Recall that two weeks ago, Israel Adesanya regained the UFC middleweight championship belt, in an immediate rematch by knocking out the Brazilian Alex Pereira, who finished him with a technical knockout in the fifth round last November.
