Ex-absolute lightweight champion Australian George Kambosos Jr. (20-2, 10 KOs) is recovering from the loss of all titles – twice in a row he lost to American Devin Haney (29-0, 15 KOs).

He pulled out of a fight against ex-champion in the division below American Shakur Stevenson (19-0, 9 KOs) and is considering when and with whom to return to the ring.

The ex-champion has a cool option – ex-challenger compatriot Liam Wilson (11-2, 7 KOs) wants to fight him, who at the beginning of the month almost upset the Mexican Emmanuel Navarrete in the fight for the vacant WBO title at 59 kg.

Wilson’s team filed an official protest – they are very unhappy with the decisions of the referee, they demand an immediate revenge or even completely cancel the result of the fight. Their chances, to be honest, are very small. And they understand it. Therefore, they are looking towards the ex-champion.

“If our appeal doesn’t go through, then I would like to have a mega-Australian fight with Kambosos,” says Wilson. “Those are the only two fights that interest me right now. Yes, I’m ready to fight George at lightweight.”

Wilson’s manager states that “Liam has a lot of respect for George. But he wants to show himself in all its glory against an opponent of this level. He is not afraid to take risks. And we believe in him. I think this is the coolest fight you can have in Australia right now. Therefore, if this option suits George, we will immediately begin negotiations.”

Meanwhile, the ex-champion said that “Haney is the best in lightweight, and I’m number two.” Kambosos is hoping for a fight with Lomachenko.
