George Rose, promoter of unbeaten Australian super welterweight Tim Tszyu (21-0, 15 KOs), expects his ward to win and have a cool show in the upcoming fight for the “interim” WBO world title against American Tony Harrison (29-3-1, 21 KOs) , which will be held on March 12 in Australia.
“Mark March 12 in your calendars because Tim Tszyu will finally get the long-awaited chance to become world champion,” Rose said, “forgetting” about the inferiority of the title that will be at stake. “I visited him at his training camp in the US and you can trust me he is ready to take over the world by any means necessary. He is in the best shape of his life and will perform at home for the first time since 2021. He is experiencing an unprecedented hunger, and this is going to be a hell of a show.”
At the same time, the functionary made it clear that no one is in the clouds, underestimating the upcoming threat:
“Tim knows this is not going to be like a walk in the park and in Tony Harrison he will face an extremely dangerous opponent. Harrison is the only person in the world who has managed to defeat Jermell Charlo, so it’s a huge risk for Tim.”
Recall that at the end of January, Tszyu was scheduled to fight against the absolute division champion Jermell Charlo, but he was injured, and the meeting had to be postponed for an indefinite period.
Earlier, Tszyu also commented on the upcoming fight with Harrison.
