Du Plessis responded to Strickland’s accusations and thanked rapper Drake

Reigning UFC middleweight champion, Dricus Du Plessis, has responded to claims made by Sean Strickland, who claimed that the South African only won his title fight thanks to a dissection he inflicted on him with a head kick in the fourth round.

“Why don’t you cry about it. Again,” Du Plessis wrote on social media, commenting on the American’s statement.

In addition, the new UFC champion thanked Canadian rapper Drake, who, being widely known for his bad luck in sports predictions, bet seven hundred thousand dollars on Strickland’s victory.

“Oh, I almost forgot – thanks Drake!”, Du Plessis added.

The middleweight title fight between Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis headlined last weekend’s UFC 297 event in Toronto went the full distance and ended in a split decision in favor of the South African fighter.

So far, former division champions Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira, as well as ninth-ranked middleweight prospect Hamzat Chimaev, have made their desire to share the octagon with Du Plessis known.
