Tyson Fury and Alexander Usik fight postponed

The fight for the title of absolute world champion in boxing between Tyson Fury and Alexander Usik is postponed to the beginning of next year due to the fact that the “Gypsy King” will not have time in two months to recover from a hard fight with Francis Ngannou.

This was revealed by the Brit’s promoter Frank Warren in an interview with The Mirror.

“The fight with Usik remains in force, the contract is signed, but it will not take place on December 23,” – said Warren. “It would be crazy to suggest it could take place in two months. Tyson is 35 years old, he’s just had a 12-week training camp, and it was a tough fight.”

“Ngannou has caused him more problems than Dereck Chisora and Dillian Whyte combined and he needs a break to spend time with his family and switch gears. We will announce the date when we are ready. Anyway, the contract is signed and the fight will take place early next year, late January or February”

Warren also paid tribute to the Cameroonian who not only went the full distance with the world champion, but also sent him down by knockdown.

“Tyson Fury wasn’t himself on the night, but it was a win – he got it through sheer stamina and determination. Ngannou was very dangerous and strong and could give anyone a hard and tough fight. I don’t think someone like Anthony Joshua could stand up to Ngannou’s pressing – he’s a tough ub****k”

Recall that at the end of ten competitive rounds, the judges gave the victory to Tyson Fury by split decision, with the public in Riyadh met the verdict with a disgruntled roar.
