Former world champion in two categories, American Shakur Stevenson (19-0, 9 KOs) commented on the victory over Brazilian Robson Conceição (17-2, 8 KOs) in the main event of the last boxing evening in Newark (USA).

Recall that Stevenson won by unanimous decision with a score of 117-109, 118-108, 117-109. At the same time, he lost the WBC and WBO titles in the second featherweight (up to 59 kg) on the eve of entering the ring, because he could not fit into the division at the official weigh-in. Then he announced that he was moving up to the next category.

“I’ve had a long week,” Stevenson said. “I killed myself to make weight. All I wanted to do was get in the ring and compete. I did everything I could to make it happen. And everything he could to beat Conceição. He held me throughout the fight, but I tried to do my best. I think there was too much fuss when I got inside because he immediately grabbed me.”

Shakur also shared his plans for a new chapter of his career, which will be written already in lightweight (up to 61.2 kg):

“We have to fight the champion. We can stir up, for example, with Devin Haney. After he fights (in a rematch) with Kambosos, let’s go! And I will fight Lomachenko too!”
