American top lightweight (up to 61.2 kg) Ryan “Kingry” Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) is the most popular foreign boxer in the Land of the Rising Sun. So says Japanese puncher Keita Obara (23-4-1, 21 KOs).

Reporter Ellie Sekbek asked the ex-welterweight contender who is the most popular in his country. He named ex-middleweight champion Ryota Murata (16-3, 13 KOs).

Recall that after his victory over Ryota, Golovkin gave Murata his chapan.

Big Japan. Golovkin knocked out Murata

When it came to a foreign boxer, Obara, after a few seconds of reflection, said – “Ryan Garcia!”

When asked who this young American puncher could fight in Japan, Keita suggested 30-year-old unbeaten Shuichiro Yoshino (15-0, 11 KOs).
