Four weeks before the UFC 284 tournament, the Russian fighter Zubaira Tukhugov changed his opponent.
Informed sources close to the situation report that Yoel Alvarez, who was supposed to meet with the Russian, dropped out of the event for an unknown reason, and Elvis Brenner Oliveira, a new recruit of the organization, took his place on the card.
Zubaira Tukhugov has been playing in the UFC since 2014, and during this time he fought eight fights in the organization’s featherweight division, winning five, suffering two losses, and one more fight with his participation ended in a draw. In October last year, the Russian failed to cope with the weight race and dropped out of the fight against Lucas Almeida, after which he announced a change in weight category. The upcoming fight will be Tukhugov’s debut in the UFC lightweight division.
Elvis Brenner Oliveira is on a two stoppage streak from regionals in Mexico and Brazil. In total, the Brazilian has thirteen professional victories with three defeats.
Recall that the UFC 284 tournament will be held on February 11 in Perth, Australia, and its main event will be the lightweight title superfight between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski.
