Volkanovski spoke about feeling better after his knockout loss to Makhachev

Reigning UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, who lost by first-round knockout to Islam Makhachev a month ago, has been medically cleared to spar for the first time since his tough loss to the Russian.

“Just had my first sparring session,” the Australian said in a video posted on his YouTube channel. “Obviously I had to follow all the relevant protocols exactly to get back to training. I don’t have any symptoms after the knockout, I’m feeling good, so we’ll keep going.”

“My team and the attending physicians have dealt with thousands of concussions, so they made sure I followed the protocols exactly. We still have some time before camp, so I’ll be able to get into a full practice schedule. I feel really happy.”

It should be recalled that on February 17 at UFC 298 in Anaheim, Alexander Volkanovski will defend his title against Georgian fighter Ilia Topuria, ranked fifth in the rankings of the welterweight division.
