Volkanovski responded to O’Malley about the Topuria fight

Former UFC featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski, addressed Sean O’Malley’s challenge to Elijah Topuria, who took the belt away from the Australian after defending his UFC flyweight title.

“He challenged Elijah,” Volkanovski said in a video posted on his Youtube channel. “Look, if you can come back quickly and fight Elijah soon, I think you can do it because I’m resting for now. But I’m going to fight Elijah later this year. I know I’m going to fight for the title in my next fight.”

“So if you’re going to give it a shot, you better do it as soon as possible because I’m next. So, if that’s what you really want to do, Shawn, you’ve got a little window. By the way, congrats on the win, buddy. That was impressive.”

It should be noted that Elijah Topuria, who knocked out Alex Volkanovski in the second round last month, has expressed no interest in a superfight against Sean O’Malley, who defeated Marlon Vera by unanimous decision last weekend at UFC 299 in Miami.

The Spanish-Georgian fighter previously made it clear that he plans to make his first title defense in October or November of this year at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid.
