Ukrainian fans are well aware of these boxers, as they previously fought with the ex-lightweight hegemon Vasily Lomachenko – both lost to the Ukrainian by a devastating decision of the judges.
The favorite from Puerto Rico started the fight great: he outplayed the knockout due to the work of the legs and angles of attacks, combined. Commey tried to work as number one. In response, Pedraza failed the African and counterattacked.
Underdog from Ghana had to urgently make adjustments: he significantly increased the density of the fight, invested in all the thrown punches. In the 3rd round, both had good moments: the Puerto Rican on the whole beautifully avoided Commey’s attacks due to dives and slips, head movements, continued to invest in body shots, but blundered a couple of left hooks – the African’s best weapon.
Pedraza continued to box left-handed, solidly outplayed his opponent in efficiency, but sometimes he was too passive, often rubbing the ropes of the ring with his back.
In the 6th three-minute period, the fighters collided heads. Commie was unlucky – he received an unpleasant cut near his left eye. For some reason, the referee decided that it was a blow. African problem. Especially since he looks more tired. It is possible that Pedraza’s blows to the body affected. The favorite did especially well in the 9th round.
