Vasyl Lomachenko’s reaction to Oleksandr Usik’s victory

Reigning IBF lightweight boxing world champion Vasyl Lomachenko did not ignore the success of his friend and compatriot Oleksandr Usik, who in a confrontation with Britain’s Tyson Fury became the absolute heavyweight boxing world champion.

“The best of the best, Alexander Usik! What a moment! Glory to You Lord, Glory to You! Peace to all,” the Ukrainian boxer wrote in the social network.

The unification fight between Alexander Usik and Tyson Fury, held in the Saudi capital Riyadh, went the full distance and ended with the Ukrainian winning by split decision with scores of 115-112, 114-113 and 113-114, with “The Gypsy King” being close to losing the fight by knockout in the ninth round.

According to the terms of the contract, the boxers are to have an immediate rematch, which will take place this October. However, by that time, Alexander Usik will no longer be the absolute world champion, as the IBF will strip him of his title in two weeks.

As for Vasyl Lomachenko, a week ago he regained the title of world champion, defeating Australian George Kambososos by technical knockout in the eleventh round and winning the vacant IBF lightweight championship belt.
