UFC on ESPN 20 co-main event
This week, the UFC will hold two tournaments with spectators at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi (UAE). Sunday night/morning hosts UFC 257 with Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier in the lead, and Wednesday night hosts UFC on ESPN 20, also known as UFC Fight Island 8.
In the co-main event of the evening, welterweight fighters will also perform, only with a lower rank – the Brazilian Alves and the Tunisian Lazzez.
Alves started his UFC career with four consecutive wins, bringing his overall record to 10-0. But since May 2016, he has lost 4 out of 6 fights. He last fought in November 2019, losing a triangle to Randy Brown.
Lazzez’s resume is not yet rich in performances in the octagon. The Sniper had their only fight in promotion No. 1 in July last year, defeating the pair’s favorite Abdul Razak Alhassan by unanimous decision in the Fight of the Night.
Prediction for the fight
Alves is a good grappler with powerful hands. His opponent is a basic puncher with knockout ability – 8 knockout wins out of 10.
The big question is, how has the long downtime affected Alves? If the Brazilian is in good physical and mental condition, then he can use his experience and ground skills to neutralize Lazzez’s dangerous “punch”. The grappling of the African fighter is not at the highest level, so Alves can either “overstay” him or carry out his favorite technique – the guillotine.
Alves win by submission in the 2nd round
