Vadim Nemkov vacated the Bellator championship belt

Russian fighter Vadim Nemkov is no longer the current Bellator bantamweight champion.

According to the Bellator grand prix winner, he has officially notified the organization that he has moved up to the heavyweight division and vacated the championship belt.

“Yes, I’ve moved up to heavyweight. Bellator doesn’t have a champion in the heavyweight division yet,” the Russian was quoted as saying by the news agency TASS.

Vadim Nemkov won the Bellator bantamweight championship belt in August 2020, finishing American Ryan Bader by second-round technical knockout, before making four successful title defenses, three of them as part of the Bellator bantamweight grand prix, in the final match of which he defeated Corey Anderson by unanimous decision.

The 31-year-old Russian last fought in June of this year, defeating Cuban Yoel Romero by unanimous decision in five rounds.
