Vadim Nemkov: “I would like to continue the work of Fedor”

Vadim Nemkov:

Reigning Bellator light heavyweight title holder Vadim Nemkov spoke about how he sees the upcoming fight against Yoel Romero, and also revealed what the team’s goals are for themselves after the retirement of Fedor Emelianenko.

“I am glad that this fight will take place now, and not in February, because by February I would have had a very quick and crumpled preparation,” the Russian said, talking to reporters at a media day. “Now I had the opportunity to prepare better and approach the fight in optimal shape. When you fight five rounds of five minutes, there is more difficult preparation, so it’s hard to fight five rounds every three months. ”

“I expect Yoel Romero to be a tough opponent. I prepared for him the same way I prepared for Corey Anderson, Phil Davis. It’s going to be a tough fight – I’ve been preparing for five rounds, but I want to finish as early as possible. We can both wrestle and stand up, but based on Yoel’s recent fights and my fight, I think there won’t be much fighting.”

“I would like to continue the work of Fedor, because we are all from Stary Oskol, from the same team and his students. I would like the representatives of our school to always be in the tops and someone would definitely be in the champions”

Recall that the title fight between Vadim Nemkov and Yoel Romero will be the main event of the Bellator 297 tournament, which will be held on June 16 in Chicago.
