Influential British promoter Frank Warren sees his ward, WBC heavyweight title holder Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) as the future undisputed champion of the division.

As we wrote earlier, Warren is leaning towards the victory of Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs) in the upcoming rematch with Briton Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) for the WBA / WBO / IBF titles, which will be held on August 20 in Saudi Arabia .

But in a possible confrontation between Usyk and Fury, the functionary is already betting on a compatriot whose interests he watches over.

“I saw Usyk against Chazz Witherspoon and then he fought Chisora and he looked fine. And[in the first fight]against Joshua, it was on another level,” Warren said. Joshua didn’t use his physical abilities and I can’t figure out why. I thought he was going to keep it on the tip of the jab and turn on the right, but he didn’t. Instead, he allowed himself to be out-jabbed by a smaller fighter from long range. I assumed that Usyk could only hurt him close, but it turned out exactly the opposite – he beat him at a long distance.

“How to fight with him (Usyk)? Frank asks, already knowing the answer. – I really see that Tyson (Fury) will succeed. I think Tyson is a lot like him, but he’s much, much bigger.”

Meanwhile, a colleague of Warren’s, Eddie Hearn, said that Joshua could refuse a rematch with Usyk and fight Fury.
