The unified heavyweight champion Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs) intends to first finally close the issue with the Briton Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs), and then enter the duel for the title of the absolute division with another representative of Britain – the owner of the WBC belt Tyson Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs).
On August 20, in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Usyk will have a rematch with Joshua. The first duel between them took place in September in London (England) – the Ukrainian won by decision of the judges.
Usyk does not care about the fact that the other day Fury allegedly finally decided to end his career: “I think that it is with him that I will have my next fight.”
Former two-time world welterweight champion and current boxing columnist American Sean Porter is also known for the fact that he once defeated Usyk as an amateur.
He commented on the words of the Ukrainian: Usyk vs Fury is the coolest heavyweight fight possible. And I’m not even talking about belts, but about stylistic confrontation and guaranteed action. In my opinion, Fury doesn’t really want to fight Usyk. Including for the reason that he has more financially cool options. Honestly? I don’t get mad at him for that. I understand that he achieved everything he dreamed of. He has earned the right to command the parade, to dictate conditions, to demand increased attention.”
“I heard Fury was talking about a third fight with Derek Chisora,” Porter continues. – Yes, this is not a very big fight, but they may well fill O2 arena in London, because the fans there still want to see him fight. They want a Fury show. And they need someone charismatic in their opponents. I’m not saying that Chisora is on the same level as Usyk. But he is not inferior to him in market value, and together with Fury they will arrange a cool promotion. There will be a cool show. I won’t say that beating Chisora is a real trifling matter. But it’s still a handy opponent. The opponent you want. From a business standpoint, the situation looks like this.”
Previously, Fury had already beaten Chisora twice, and he did it confidently (in the second case ahead of schedule). We absolutely agree with Porter’s opinion – the fight Fury vs Chisora 3 entered our top of the most likely boxing rematches.
Previously, Porter commented on the second confrontation between Usyk and Joshua: “The Brit is too afraid to miss.”
