The WBA/WBO/IBF world heavyweight champion Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) regained his leadership in the ranking of the best boxers of our time, regardless of the pound-for-pound weight category, according to the legendary magazine The Ring.
Usyk’s return to the top of the rankings was due to his victory in a rematch over Briton Anthony Joshua – on August 20 in Saudi Arabia, Alexander outboxed the ex-champion on points by a split decision of the judges.
Prior to this, the leader was the Japanese Naoya Inoue, who displaced the Ukrainian from the first place after a bright victory in a rematch over Nonito Donaire in early June.
Note that the second victory over Joshua brought Usyk the champion belt according to The Ring, previously owned by Tyson Fury. The latter was deprived of the regalia after his next announcement of his retirement.
The updated pound-for-pound rating according to The Ring now looks like this:
1. Oleksandr Usyk
2. Naoya Inoue
3. Terence Crawford
4. Errol Spence
5. Saul Alvarez
6. Vasily Lomachenko
7. Dmitry Bivol
8. Josh Taylor
9. Jermell Charlo
10. Artur Beterbiev
