British heavyweight David Allen (19-5-2, 16 KOs), who also works as a manager and trainer for some British fighters, gave
interview for a local boxing blog.
The former sparring partner of the ex-hegemon heavyweight Ukrainian Wladimir Klitschko and the current unified heavyweight division champion Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs) spoke about Usyk’s upcoming rematch with his compatriot Anthony Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs). Allen also spoke about British WBC champion Tyson Fury, American ex-champion Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) and British prospect Joe Joyce (14-0, 13 KOs).
You know Tyson Fury very well. You’ve trained with him, you’ve been in the ring with him many times. Did he finish his career in your opinion? It’s kind of funny at the moment, but is he sure he’ll be back when the opportunity presents itself?
Actually, it already sounds boring. If you leave, then make the title vacant so that someone else can compete for it. There’s Wilder over there, let him fight for him if you want to come back later. I am not a pension expert. It already sounds the same. I just want to see him with the winner of the Joshua-Usyk fight. Fight the winner, beat him and retire as one of the best in history. Everything is simple. As for the fight between Joshua and Usyk, I think that Usyk will stop him this time! I think that Joshua will be more aggressive, and this is the worst thing he can do with Usyk. He didn’t beat him the first time, it’s impossible the second time. Therefore, I think that Usyk will stop him. I think that was your next question.
- Chisora and Witherspoon show Usyk can be beaten – sparring Joshua
I think you are right, you are reading my mind. And finally, who is the best of the remaining heavyweights? You know them pretty well.
“I think Wilder might be the third best on the planet.
Is he better than Joe Joyce?
“I believe Deontay Wilder will knock out Joe Joyce. Joe Joyce attacks without thinking of a response. And if he does that to Deontay Wilder, he’ll be spread out in the ring in 30 seconds. Joe Joyce can potentially beat anyone on his best night because he’s relentless. But if he thinks it will work with Wilder or Joshua or Fury, he will be knocked out. Just like he fought as an amateur. He couldn’t do it at the highest level. Let’s hope he pulls his stuff up. I like Joe Joyce. I sparred with him a lot, and he was always at the bottom of the list of those whom I would like to beat. A very strong fighter, but you can’t be like that when you go against really big guys.
