The eleventh number of the UFC lightest division, Umar Nurmagomedov, commented on the statement of Merab Dvalishvili, who on the eve confirmed the information that he was offered to fight with the Russian fighter.
“This is a huge challenge for me and a start in a big game. Let’s go!” Nurmagomedov wrote on the social network.
According to the UFC plan, the fight between Nurmagomedov and Dvalishvili was supposed to head the next event of the strongest league in the world on May 13, however, the Georgian fighter, although he agreed to the fight, announced that he could not hold it at that time due to a hand injury.
At the same time, the Russian team expects this fight to take place in July, and manager Dvalishvili made it clear that the decision on the next fight will be made after Aljamain Sterling defends the championship belt against Henry Cejudo on May 6 at UFC 288 in Newark.
The defeat of Cejudo will play into the hands of Nurmagomedov, since Dvalishvili categorically refuses to fight teammate Sterling, and will be forced to accept the fight if the UFC insists on it.
