Undefeated Russian UFC bantamweight fighter Umar Nurmagomedov ruled out a trash talk war with compatriot Petro Yan if a fight with him is scheduled.
“I don’t think there will be trash talk between us,” Nurmagomedov told reporters after a press conference on December 13 in Moscow. “It doesn’t mean that if the Americans love it, then we should do it. We have many mutual acquaintances of the guys, and everyone says that he is a simple, rural guy who has normal and sound ideas. Therefore I make sense [не вижу в треш-токе]. Maybe a sports trash talk? And so to get personal, and in general it’s bad in sports to get personal when you talk about a person, his family and religion.”
Petr Yan is the current interim UFC bantamweight champion. He is expected to have a title rematch with American Aljamain Sterling early next year.
