Michal Oleksiejczuk had a slow start but came storming back for an impressive finish to kick off the main card at UFC Vegas 66.
After getting controlled on the ground in the early going, Oleksiejczuk reversed his fortunes by getting on top of Cody Brundage and unleashing some vicious punches. Oleksiejczuk kept his opponent under him and continued to throw hammers, until Brundage became limp. The referee had to end the fight.
The end came at 3:16 in the opening round.
” My game plan was very straightforward,” Oleksiejczuk stated after the victory. I want to take down my opponent. Cody is an excellent grappler. I lost one fight, but I’m ready to take on the top fighters in the middleweight division .”
.
Brundage was the one who started fast with a good-timed takedown and tried to get Oleksiejczuk off his back with his wrestling. Brundage was able to execute his plan well until Oleksiejczuk reverted and began throwing down punches.
From there, Oleksiejczuk began to throw some powerful ground-and-pound with many punches getting through Brundage.
After a couple of hammerfists slipped through Brundage’s guard, Oleksiejczuk really began to unleash some serious power. Brundage gave up on defending, and Oleksiejczuk began to unleash some serious power. His arms were now pointing to the sides. The referee intervened to end the match.
Following his second straight win since moving down to middleweight, Oleksiejczuk wasted no time looking towards the top-15 rankings for his next opponent.
“Chris Curtis, you are next,” Oleksiejczuk said. “You’re a ranked fighter, and I want to fight you .”
It didn’t take Curtis long to hear his name and respond with a simple “say when.”
