UFC top lightweight spoke about training with Khamzat Chimaev

The eleventh number in the UFC lightweight rating, Jalyn Turner, spoke about joint training with Khamzat Chimaev, who became his sparring partner at one of the stages of preparing the American for the upcoming fight with Dan Hooker.

“It was crazy – Khamzat is very good, he is a real threat,” Turner said, talking to reporters. “I learned a lot from this guy in the few training sessions we had together. He’s a tough dude, a very strong fighter with great grappling and striking, and his wrestling is phenomenal. I feel like I gained a lot in the short time I spent with him.”

“Our sparring sessions were very intense – this guy never stops. He’s always doing takedowns, standing up – you just don’t have time to think. And at this pace, he demonstrates excellent timing. For many years in the hall, no one tested me like that. I didn’t think anyone could do this to me. It was amazing – great experience”

“People talk about our photo together, they say we have the same dimensions, but he is definitely much larger than me. Physically, I’m a pretty strong guy for a lightweight, but he’s a couple of weight classes taller than me, and I felt it. I couldn’t believe how strong he was, but it was cool. He is a good guy”

Recall that the lightweight fight between Jalyn Turner and Dan Hooker will be part of the UFC 290 tournament, which will take place on July 8 in Las Vegas, and Khamzat Chimaev plans to return to the octagon on October 21 at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi.
