Don’t tell Gerald Meerschaert he can’t stand with a top level striker.

He faced Bruno Silva, a well-known knockout artist at UFC San Diego. Meerschaert scored a spectacular left hook in round three that sent Silva to the ground in an instant. After nearly finishing with strikes, Meerschaert went back to his best weapon as he snatched a guillotine choke that eventually forced Silva to tap out, which ended the fight at 1:39 in the third round.

The victory was Meerschaert’s 27th career finish by submission.

“Bruno’s a tough guy,” Meerschaert said. He did an excellent job at ducking his first time. Although I am a submit guy, I have the ability to crack. He was still there so I had to get that neck.”

Despite being faced by a well-known grappler, Silva marched forward without fear as he chased Meerschaert through the octagon. Meerschaert managed to keep out of trouble, circle away from power shots and was eventually able to knock Silva to the floor.

Meerschaert was very dominant before being pushed to the top and finally hurling insults at Silva who was mostly just playing defense.

As Silva tried to find the knockout, he was swinging hard with wild, big shots. However, Meerschaert managed to get out of his way quickly and avoid getting caught. Meerschaert, on the other hand, was focused on a series of well-timed kicks to his body and then he went back to top.

Knowing that Silva was probably down on scorecards, Silva became more aggressive with the time clock. However, this strategy proved to be counterproductive as Silva left himself vulnerable to his opponent’s counters. With Silva standing directly in front of him, Meerschaert unleashed the left hook that put the Brazilian down until he latched onto the guillotine for the submission.

The win puts Meerschaert back on track following a decision loss in his last outing and he was more than ready to respond to another middleweight who has been asking for a fight against him.

” I know someone’s calling my name,” Meerschaert stated. Andre Petroski: If you want more, please come and get them, son .”
