UFC president explains the return of the BMF title

UFC President Dana White explained why the decision was made to replay the BMF title, which will be on the line in the upcoming bout between Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje.

“We thought Poirier vs Gaethje was an amazing fight – Masvidal had just retired, so we decided to play the BMF title again,” MMAJunkie quotes White. “You have no idea how many fighters want to fight for the BMF title. They all want to fight for that belt. It’s fun, it’s different, so we’ll do it again.”

The UFC president also answered the question of whether the new BMF title holder will defend him.

“I do not know yet. When we played him the first time, we had two good guys, just like we do now. Everyone wants this belt, so why not?”

Recall that the lightweight fight between Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje will be the main event of the UFC 291 tournament, which will be held July 29 in Salt Lake City.
