UFC plan for Khamzat Chimaev revealed

UFC President, Dana White, confirmed the information that Khamzat Chimaev will fight his next fight in the middleweight category, and his opponent will be one of the top three in the division.

“He will fight in the middleweight division,” said the head of the organization, answering questions from reporters in London. “And yes, he is in a position where he has to face one of the top three guys in the world.”

Earlier, Khamzat Chimaev announced that he would return to the octagon after Ramadan, calling former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker the most likely opponent, however, on the eve of the Chechen fighter puzzled fans, saying that he was going to select the UFC welterweight championship belt in the near future the winner of the title fight between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman, who will headline UFC 286 in London.

Recall that the UFC middleweight title is held by Brazilian Alex Pereira, and places from first to third in the division are occupied by Israel Adesanya, Robert Whittaker and Jared Cannonier, respectively.

28-year-old Khamzat Chimaev won his sixth victory in the organization last September, finishing with a first-round choke of Kevin Holland, and is currently ranked third in the UFC welterweight rankings.
