UFC on ESPN 49 loses heavyweight fight

Thirteen fights remain on the UFC card after the heavyweight bout between Walt Harris and Josh Parisian was eliminated from the event.

The reason was a doping test failed by Harris.

“I wanted you to hear this from me first – my fight was canceled due to problems I had with the latest USADA test,” the American wrote on the social network. “I believe this was due to a supplement that I trusted throughout my career, but in the end it was never approved by USADA. I’m a complete idiot for not checking this beforehand, but I’m definitely not a cheater.”

“I sincerely apologize to my opponent Josh Parisian. I was looking forward to this meeting in the octagon. Once I get over this, I hope we try to do it again. I’m looking forward to working with the UFC and USADA and hopefully we’ll sort this out in the coming weeks. Thank you all for your patience and support – looking forward to returning soon.”

Recall that the UFC on ESPN 49 tournament will take place on July 15 in Las Vegas, and its main event will be a women’s bantamweight bout between Holly Holm and Maira Bueno Silva.
