UFC Hall of Fame member tipped Oliveira for the Makhachev fight

Hall of Fame member and former UFC middleweight champion, Michael Bisping, spoke about how Charles Oliveira should proceed to improve his chances of winning his upcoming title rematch with Islam Makhachev.

“Charles needs a plan for the fight,” the Brit said on another edition of his podcast. “He can’t just aggressively go forward with punches because it’s like flipping a coin – one punch can decide everything. You have to have a plan for the fight, although as Mike Tyson said, everyone has a plan for the fight until they get punched in the face.”

“Oliveira needs to throw more straight punches and also kicking with his legs. Charles is a great leg kicker – it might not be the best tactic against a fighter most of the time, but that’s not how Islam spends his tekdowns. So, Charles has to hit a lot of jabs and straight punches, he has to circle a lot and be light on his feet”

“His actions should obey the chosen strategy, it’s as simple as that. He needs to avoid clinching, not give his opponent too many chances, and not throw wild de***ing stuff like jumping knees from a distance”

The lightweight title fight between Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira will be the main event of UFC 294, which takes place on October 21 in Abu Dhabi.
