UFC fighter Muhammad Mokaev explained about the statement about Russia

The unwillingness of Muhammad Mokaev to associate himself with Russia is connected with the actions of activists protesting against the construction of a mosque in the capital’s Kosino-Ukhtomskoye district.

This is a fighter living in the UK, who on the eve turned to the UFC with a request not to mention Russia as his place of birth, told his subscribers on the social network.

“I have read many comments about how Russians are against Muslims who want to build a mosque in Moscow,” Mokaev wrote. “That was enough for me. I can say that the country in which I now live has never openly opposed the construction of mosques.”

Earlier, the reigning UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev expressed his opinion on this issue, mentioning his compatriot Maxim Divnich, who is one of the activists.

Recall that the main argument of the protesters is that for the construction of a mosque designed for 60 thousand believers, the territory of the Holy Lake, on which an Orthodox church is already located, was allocated. According to available information, at the moment the mosque construction project has been suspended.

22-year-old Dagestan native Muhammad Mokaev is undefeated, on a four-fight streak in the UFC, and ranks twelfth in the organization’s flyweight division.
