Reigning UFC middleweight title holder Alex Pereira has confirmed that his next opponent could be former second-ranked champion Robert Whittaker.
“I want to be back in April or May,” the Brazilian told ESPN. “I will be ready by this time. There is nothing in development right now, but I know it will be a rematch with Izzy or Robert Whittaker. I don’t have a preference – Izzy or Robert, I’ll be ready.”
The day before, the Australian said that he was going to return to the octagon in March-April of this year, suggesting that Pereira could become his rival.
Last September, Robert Whittaker got his career back on track with a unanimous decision win over Marvin Vettori, and two months later, Alex Pereira took the championship belt from Israel Adesanya, finishing the Nigerian by TKO in the fifth round.
